Project
Through materializes the invisible, giving body to the concept of aura through illustration. Based on interviews, the exhibition presents identities in the form of sensitive and unconventional portraits. With the creative process on display, contemporary art is demystified and made accessible to all.
Synopsis
From spoken words and intuition to images, how to illustrate someone else’s soul ?
« Through » explores how people allow their identity to shine through, beyond their physical form. Based on the notion of “aura” this project deals with manifestation of presence, energy, and specific individual language.
This piece brings together five portraits from the local cultural scene, shifting between figuration and abstraction. Within each column, these personalities reveal themselves in patterns, masks, flowers, symbols, and quotes.
Using the cyanotype process, the images are printed in the sun with photosensitive chemistry; once rinsed with water, they reveal themselves in a deep blue. Just as wind plays with the transparency of fabric, light filters through the material to reveal the elusive: the trace of an encounter.
