Synopsis
In 1871, Parisians were highly politicized, and the decisions made by the government and the National Assembly were perceived as provocations. On March 18, a nearly spontaneous uprising spread throughout the city. The insurrection lasted 72 days, led by an alternative government embodying a democratic ideal.
